Drs. Lauren Katz and Joanne Pierson founded 3LI in the summer of 2012 with a clear vision for the future. We planned to build a clinical and consulting practice of the highest standards, and we have done that.
- As trained language clinicians, with doctoral degrees in education, we use our knowledge of how language undergirds reading, spelling, writing and learning in our diagnostic and treatment practices.
- We are avid consumers of research, and we recognize that best practices can change over time.
- We believe that there is tremendous value in understanding both the diagnostic side and treatment side of language and literacy disorders. We believe that a good diagnostic assessment not only accurately identifies an individual’s strengths and weaknesses but that it also drives recommendations for intervention.
- We know that our backgrounds as both speech-language pathologists and literacy experts make us uniquely equipped to evaluate and treat those who struggle with language, literacy, and learning.
- Because of our depth of knowledge, we are able to make use of a variety of programs and approaches (not just follow a program’s script) and react in real time to our clients’ behaviors, responses, and questions.
- We understand that individuals’ patterns of strengths and weaknesses are not all the same; therefore, at 3LI we believe that one size does not fit all. Both our assessments and our therapy services are customized to meet the needs of each individual client.
- We believe that families are important to the therapy process, and therefore, we encourage families to observe sessions. We have designed our clinical space so that parents can observe their children through a one-way mirror and see first-hand what we are doing and how we are doing it.
